അകലം :വരികൾ തമ്മിൽ 3m. വരിയിലെ തടങ്ങൾ തമ്മിൽ 2m(ഒരു സെന്റിൽ 7തടം )
രണ്ടടി വ്യാസവും ഒന്നര അടി ആഴവും ഉള്ള കുഴി എടുത്ത് മേൽമണ്ണ് തിരികെ കുഴിയിൽ ഇട്ടു പകുതി മൂടി 200ഗ്രാം കുമ്മായം ചേർത്ത് നന്നായി ഇളക്കി 14 ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞു ഒരു തടത്തിൽ 15കിലോ അഴുകി പൊടിഞ്ഞ ചാണക പൊടി, 40g യൂറിയ, 75ഗ്രാം മസ്സൂറിഫോസ്, 25കിലോ പൊട്ടാഷ് എന്നിവ ചേർത്ത് ഒരു തടത്തിൽ 4-5വിത്തുകൾ പാകാം.
മുളച്ചു രണ്ടാഴ്ച കഴിഞ്ഞു കരുത്തുള്ള 3തൈകൾ നിർത്തി ബാക്കി ഉള്ളവ പിഴുതു കളയാം.
പടരാൻ തുടങ്ങുമ്പോൾ വേണമെങ്കിൽ ഓലകൾ തറയിൽ ഇട്ടു കൊടുക്കാം.
വള്ളി വീശുമ്പോഴും പൂക്കൾ നിറയെ വരാൻ തുടങ്ങുമ്പോഴും 25ഗ്രാം വീതം യൂറിയ മണ്ണിൽ ചേർത്ത് കൊടുക്കാം
തടങ്ങളിൽ നന്നായി കരിയിലകൾ കൊണ്ട് പുതയിടുന്നത് നല്ലതാണ്.
മിതമായി നനച്ചു കൊടുക്കുക. പൂക്കുമ്പോഴും കായ് പിടിക്കുമ്പോഴും ഒന്നിട വിട്ട ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ നനക്കാം.
കായ്കൾ മൂത്തു വരുമ്പോൾ നന കുറയ്ക്കണം.മത്തൻ വണ്ടുകൾ, ആമ വണ്ട്, കായീച്ച എന്നിവ വരാതെ നോക്കണം.
മൃദു രോമ പൂപ്പു, പൊടിപ്പൂപ്പ് എന്നീ കുമിൾ രോഗങ്ങളെയും സൂക്ഷിക്കണം.
വള്ളികൾ ഒരു മീറ്റർ നീളം എത്തുമ്പോൾ തലപ്പ് ഭാഗം നുള്ളി കൂടുതൽ ശിഖരങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നതു നല്ലതാണ്.
ഒരു വള്ളിയിൽ 2-3 കായ്കളിൽ കൂടുതൽ ഉണ്ടായാൽ വലിപ്പം കുറഞ്ഞേക്കാം.
നട്ടു 75-100 ദിവസത്തിനുള്ളിൽ വിളവെടുക്കാൻ കഴിയും. ഇനങ്ങൾക്ക് അനുസരിച്ചു ഇത് വ്യത്യാസപ്പെടാം.
ഒരു തടത്തിൽ നിന്നും 15കിലോ വരെ കായ്കൾ ലഭിക്കും.
