ഇന്ത്യ ജൈവ കര്‍ഷകരുടെ എണ്ണത്തില്‍ ഒന്നാം സ്ഥാനത്തും ജൈവകൃഷിയുടെ വിസ്തൃതിയില്‍ ഒമ്പതാം സ്ഥാനത്തുമെന്ന് കേന്ദ്ര കൃഷി മന്ത്രാലയം അറിയിച്ചു. ഇന്ത്യയുടെ പ്രധാന ജൈവകയറ്റുമതികള്‍ ഫ്‌ളാക്‌സ് സീഡുകള്‍, എള്ള്, സോയാബീന്‍, ചായ, ഔഷധ സസ്യങ്ങള്‍, അരി, പയര്‍വര്‍ഗ്ഗങ്ങള്‍ എന്നിവയാണ്. ജൈവകര്‍ഷകരെയും മൊത്ത-ചില്ലറ കച്ചവടക്കാരെയും നേരിട്ട് ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് ഓര്‍ഗാനിക് ഇ-കൊമേഴ്സ് പ്ലാറ്റ്‌ഫോം ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തുമെന്നും കേന്ദ്രകൃഷിമന്ത്രാലയം പറഞ്ഞു. ആരോഗ്യത്തിനും പോഷണത്തിനും ജൈവഭക്ഷണം എന്ന സന്ദേശം പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കാനും സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്നു.
ആദ്യ സമ്പൂര്‍ണ്ണ ജൈവ സംസ്ഥാനം സിക്കിം-Sikkim-first organic state in the world
ഇന്ത്യയിലും ആഗോളതലത്തിലും ജൈവഉത്പ്പന്നങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ആവശ്യക്കാര്‍ വര്‍ദ്ധിച്ചു വരുകയാണ്. ആഗോളതലത്തില്‍ കോവിഡ് മഹാമാരി ഉയര്‍ത്തുന്ന വെല്ലുവിളിയെ അതിജീവിക്കാന്‍ ആളുകള്‍ ആരോഗ്യകരമായ സുരക്ഷിത ഭക്ഷണം ആവശ്യപ്പെടുമ്പോള്‍ അത് ജൈവകര്‍ഷകര്‍ക്കും ഉപഭോക്താക്കള്‍ക്കും പ്രകൃതിക്കും നേട്ടമാവുകയാണ്. ലോകത്തിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ സമ്പൂര്‍ണ്ണ ജൈവസംസ്ഥാനമായി സിക്കിം മാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ത്രിപുരയും ഉത്തരാഖണ്ഡും ആ പാതയിലാണുള്ളത്. വടക്കു കിഴക്കന്‍ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങള്‍ പരമ്പരാഗതമായിത്തന്നെ ജൈവകൃഷിയെ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നവരും രാസവളവും കീടനാശിനിയും വളരെ അപൂര്‍വ്വമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നവരുമാണ്. ആദിവാസികളും ദ്വീപ് നിവാസികളും ഇത്തരത്തില്‍ കൃഷി ചെയ്യുന്നവരാണ്. അവരെ ആ പാരമ്പര്യം തുടരാന്‍ സഹായിക്കുകയാണ് ആവശ്യം.
MOVCD & PKVY
ഈ ലക്ഷ്യം മുന്നില്‍ കണ്ടാണ് 2015 ല്‍ രാസരഹിതകൃഷി പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ മിഷന്‍ ഓര്‍ഗാനിക് വാല്യൂ ചെയിന്‍ ഡവലപ്‌മെന്റ് ഫോര്‍ നോര്‍ത്ത് ഈസ്റ്റ് റീജിയണും(MOVCD) പരമ്പരാഗത് കൃഷി വികാസ് യോജനയും( PKVY) ആരംഭിച്ചത്. അതിനെതുടര്‍ന്ന് 2018ല്‍ ആഗോള ജൈവമാര്‍ക്കറ്റില്‍ സ്ഥാനമുറപ്പിക്കാനായി അഗ്രി എക്‌സ്‌പോര്‍ട്ട് പോളിസി കൊണ്ടുവന്നത്. ഇതിന്റെ ഫലമായി 2018-19 ല്‍ ജൈവോത്പ്പന്ന കയറ്റുമതിയില്‍ 50% വര്‍ദ്ധനവുണ്ടാവുകയും 5151 കോടി രൂപയുടെ വിദേശനാണ്യം നേടുകയും ചെയ്തു. ആസാമും മിസോറാമും മണിപ്പൂരും നാഗാലാന്റും ഇംഗ്ലണ്ട്,അമേരിക്ക,സ്വാസിലാന്റ്,ഇറ്റലി തുടങ്ങിയ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലേക്ക് കാര്യമായ കയറ്റുമതി നടത്തി നേട്ടം കൊയ്തു.
NPOP & PGS
ഉപഭോക്താവ് ഉത്പ്പന്നം വാങ്ങണമെങ്കില്‍ സര്‍ട്ടിഫിക്കേഷന്‍ പ്രധാനമാണ്. ആഭ്യന്തര വിപണിയില്‍ പാര്‍ട്ടിസിപ്പേറ്ററി ഗാരന്റി സിസ്റ്റത്തിലൂടെയും(PGS) കയറ്റുമതിക്ക് നാഷണല്‍ പ്രോഗ്രാം ഫോര്‍ ഓര്‍ഗാനിക് പ്രൊഡക്ഷന്‍ (NPOP) വഴിയുമാണ് സര്‍ട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് നല്‍കുന്നത്. 2017 ലെ ഫുഡ് സേഫ്റ്റി& സ്റ്റാന്‍ഡാര്‍സ് (ഓര്‍ഗാനിക് ഫുഡ്‌സ്) റഗുലേഷന്‍സ് NPOP യെയും PGS നെയും അടിസ്ഥാനപ്പെടുത്തിയാണ് തയ്യാറാക്കിയിട്ടുള്ളത്. ഉപഭോക്താവ് ജൈവഉത്പ്പന്നങ്ങളില്‍ FSSAI ,Jaivik Bharat/PGS Organic India എന്ന ലേബലുണ്ടെന്ന് ഉറപ്പാക്കിവേണം അവ വാങ്ങാന്‍. ഓര്‍ഗാനിക്കിലേക്ക് മാറിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ഉത്പ്പന്നങ്ങള്‍ക്കാണ് PGS Green എന്ന ലേബല്‍ നല്‍കുന്നത്.

India ranks first in number of organic farmers and ninth in terms of agricultural area
According to the Union Ministry of Agriculture, India has the largest number of organic farmers and the ninth largest area for organic farming. India's major organic exports are flax seeds, sesame, soybean, tea, medicinal plants, black rice and pulses. The Union Ministry of Agriculture said it would strengthen the organic e-commerce platform to directly connect organic farmers and wholesalers and retailers. The government also aims to spread the message of organic food for health and nutrition.
Sikkim - the first complete organic state in the world
There is big demand for organic products as people are aware on quality food especially after the start of COVID pandemic.When people demand healthy and safe food to cope with the challenge posed by the COVID epidemic globally, it directly benefit the organic farmers, consumers and the nature. Sikkim has become the world's first fully organic state. Tripura and Uttarakhand are on that path. The Northeastern states have traditionally relied on organic farming and rarely use chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Tribals and islanders are the ones who cultivate in this way. We need to help them continue that tradition.
MOVCD & PKVY
With this in mind, the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North East Region (MOVCD) and the Traditional Agriculture Development Plan (PKVY) were launched in 2015 to promote chemical-free farming. This was followed by the introduction of the Agri Export Policy in 2018 to establish itself in the global organic market. As a result, exports of organic products increased by 50% in 2018-19 and earned foreign exchange of `5151 crore. Assam, Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland exported materials to England, the United States, Swaziland and Italy in a significant way.
NPOP & PGS
Certification is important to convince the customer on the product. Certification is provided through the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) in the domestic market and through the National Program for Organic Production (NPOP) for exports. The Food Safety & Standards (Organic Foods) Regulations 2017 are based on the NPOP and PGS. The consumer must ensure that the organic products are labeled FSSAI, Jaivik Bharat / PGS Organic India. Products that are switching to organic are labeled PGS Green.
Organic farming in 8 lakh hectares
Under PKVY, more than 7 lakh hectares are cultivated in more than 40,000 clusters. MOVCD cultivates 80,000 hectares with 160 farmer producer companies. The government believes that market linked contract farming must become a reality if this is to be sustainable. Ginger, turmeric, black rice, spices, nut cereals, pineapple, medicinal plants and bamboo shoots are the majoe products exported as of now. Mother Dairy buys products from Meghalaya and Revanta Foods and Big Basket from Manipur. In states like Kerala, Maharashtra and Karnataka, farmers are making decent profits by selling their produce without intermediaries through the Residents Welfare Association and others. The plan is to implement the One Product per District project and launch more organic clusters in cities to benefit the market.
Business in COVID period
The new areas were opened to farmers after the closure of shops due to the COVID lockdown. In Maharashtra, FPOs marketed vegetables and fruits online. In Punjab, electric vans were used for door-to-door sales. The products of 15 FPCs under Manipur Organic Agency (MoMA) supported by MOVCD collected products from villeges to 2 Organic Wholesale Markets in Imphal and delivered to the customers. There were over 100 markets in Kerala, selling vegetables and fruits directly to customers.
