കോവിഡ് 19ന്റെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ച ലോക്ക് ഡൗണിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ചാണ് അപേക്ഷ നൽകിയാൽ 24 മണിക്കൂറിനുള്ളിൽ റേഷൻ കാർഡ് നൽകുവാൻ സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാർ ഉത്തരവിറക്കിയത്. ഇതനുസരിച്ചാണ് റേഷന്‍ കാര്‍ഡ് ഇല്ലാത്തതുമൂലം റേഷന്‍ വാങ്ങാന്‍ സാധിക്കാത്തവര്‍ക്ക് സത്യവാങ്മൂലവും ആധാര്‍ കാര്‍ഡും അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കി സൗജന്യ റേഷന്‍ നല്‍കി വരുന്നത്.
റേഷന്‍ കാര്‍ഡ് ഇല്ലാതെ സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് കുടുംബമായി സ്ഥിരതാമസമുള്ളവര്‍ ആധാര്‍ കാര്‍ഡുമായി തൊട്ടടുത്ത അക്ഷയ സെന്ററില്‍ പോയി അപേക്ഷ നല്‍കിയാല്‍ 24 മണിക്കൂറിനുള്ളില്‍ പൊതുവിതരണ വകുപ്പ് റേഷന്‍ കാര്‍ഡ് അനുവദിക്കും. റേഷന്‍ കാര്‍ഡിനായി ഹാജരാക്കുന്ന രേഖകളുടെ ആധികാരികത പരിശോധിക്കാന്‍ ലോക്ക്ഡൗൺ സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ താത്കാലിക റേഷന്‍ കാര്‍ഡ് അനുവദിക്കണമെന്നും ഉത്തരവിൽ പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.
രേഖകളുടെ ആധികാരികത സംബന്ധിച്ച പൂര്‍ണ ഉത്തരവാദിത്വം അപേക്ഷകനായിരിക്കും. തെറ്റായ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ നല്‍കിയാല്‍ ശിക്ഷാനടപടികള്‍ക്ക് വിധേയരാകുന്നതായിരിക്കും എന്ന സത്യവാങ്മൂലം കൂടി അപേക്ഷകരില്‍ നിന്ന് വാങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. ജില്ലയിൽ മഞ്ഞ, പിങ്ക്, നീല, വെള്ള വിഭാഗങ്ങളിലായി 8,49,008 റേഷൻ കാർഡുടമകളാണ് ഉള്ളത്.
കോവിഡ് 19 പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായ ലോക്ക്ഡൗണിൽ വിവിധ കാലഘട്ടങ്ങളിലായി സിവിൽ സപ്ലൈസ് വകുപ്പ് ഇതുവരെയായി 8,45,899 കിറ്റുകൾ വിതരണം ചെയ്തു. വെളിച്ചെണ്ണ, റവ, ചെറുപയർ, കടല, ഉപ്പ്, മുളകുപൊടി, മഞ്ഞൾപ്പൊടി, മല്ലിപ്പൊടി, ഓയിൽ, ഉഴുന്ന്, തുവരപ്പരിപ്പ്, ആട്ട, തേയില, പഞ്ചസാര, അലക്ക് സോപ്പ് എന്നിങ്ങനെ 17 ഇനം വിഭവങ്ങൾ അടങ്ങി കിറ്റുകളാണ് ആളുകൾക്കായി ആദ്യഘട്ടം വിതരണം ചെയ്തത്.

രണ്ടാംഘട്ടത്തിൽ ഓഗസ്റ്റ് സെപ്റ്റംബർ മാസങ്ങളിലായി 8,05,161ഓണം സ്പെഷ്യൽ കിറ്റുകൾ വിതരണം ചെയ്തു. കോവിഡ് 19 പ്രതിസന്ധിയെ തുടർന്ന് സർക്കാർ സെപ്റ്റംബർ മുതൽ പ്രതിമാസ ഭക്ഷ്യധാന്യ കിറ്റുകളും വിതരണം ചെയ്തുവരുന്നുണ്ട്.
