കാർഷിക മേഖലയിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾക്കുള്ള പരിഹാരത്തിനായി നിർമ്മിത ബുദ്ധിയുടെ വിനിയോഗം സംബന്ധിച്ച് തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ കേന്ദ്ര കിഴങ്ങുവിള ഗവേഷണ സ്ഥാപനം (സിടിസിആർഐ) പാലക്കാട്ടെ ഇന്ത്യൻ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ടെക്‌നോളജിയുമായി (ഐഐടി) ധാരണാപത്രത്തിൽ ഒപ്പുവെച്ചു.
പാലക്കാട് ഐഐടിയിൽ ഇന്ന് നടന്ന ചടങ്ങിൽ സിടിസിആർഐ ഡയറക്ടർ ഡോ. ജി. ബൈജുവും ഐഐടി ഇൻഡസ്ട്രി കൊളാബോറേഷൻ ആൻഡ് സ്പോൺസേഡ് റിസർച്ച് ഡീൻ ഡോ. എസ്സ്. മോഹനും ഐഐടി ഡയറക്ടർ ഡോ. ശേഷാദ്രി ശേഖറിന്റെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തിലാണ് ധാരണാപത്രം ഒപ്പു വെച്ചത്. ധാരണാ പത്രപ്രകാരം സ്മാർട്ട്‌ കൃഷിക്ക് വേണ്ടുന്ന സെൻസർ അധിഷ്ഠിത കൃഷി സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യകളും മറ്റ് പ്രധാന വിഷയങ്ങളിലും സംയുക്തമായി ഗവേഷണം നടത്തും.
സിടിസിആർഐ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞരായ ഡോ. വി. എസ്സ്. സന്തോഷ് മിത്ര, ഡോ. ടി. മകേഷ്‌കുമാർ, ഐഐടി അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് പ്രൊഫസർമാരായ ഡോ. വി. ശ്രീനാഥ്, ഡോ. സത്യജിത് ദാസ് തുടങ്ങിയവർ പങ്കെടുത്തു.
In a move to promote cost-effective, artificial intelligence (AI) based agricultural decision-making tools, Thiruvananthapuram based ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Palakkad today at a function in IIT. Dr. G. Byju, Director, CTCRI and Dr. S. Mohan, Dean, Industry Collaboration & Sponsored Research, IIT signed the MoU in presence of Dr. A. Seshadri Sekhar, Director, IIT. By signing the MoU, both CTCRI and IIT plan to develop collaborative research programmes in the areas of crop modelling, yield, pests & diseases forecasting and AI & sensor based smart farming tools besides many other areas.
It is also agreed that students will be exchanged for training as well as taking up part of their research programmes. Dr. V.S. Santhosh Mithra & Dr. T. Makeshkumar, Principal scientists of CTCRI and Dr. V. Sreenath and Dr. Satyajit Das, Assistant Professors and other scientists and staff from IIT attended the function.
