പച്ചക്കറിയിൽ സ്വയം പര്യാപ്തമാകണം- മന്ത്രി കെ രാജൻ

പച്ചക്കറിയിൽ കേരളം സ്വയം പര്യാപ്തമാകണമെന്ന് മന്ത്രി കെ രാജൻ. പച്ചക്കറി കൃഷിയിൽ സ്വയം പര്യാപ്തത കൈവരിക്കുവാനും വീട്ടുവളപ്പിലെ പച്ചക്കറികൃഷി പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും വേണ്ടി കേരള കാർഷിക സർവകലാശാല മണ്ണുത്തിയിൽ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച വിജ്ഞാന വ്യാപന വിപണന മേള ഉദ്‌ഘാടനം ചെയ്ത് സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.

തൃശൂർ കോർപ്പറേഷൻ മേയർ  എം കെ വർഗീസിന് പച്ചക്കറി വിത്തുകൾ നൽകികൊണ്ട് മേളയുടെ ഉദ്‌ഘാടനം മന്ത്രി നിർവഹിച്ചു.  

മണ്ണുത്തിയെ ഗാർഡൻ സിറ്റിയാക്കി മാറ്റണം എന്ന് പരിപാടിയുടെ അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ച മേയർ അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു. രാവിലെ 10 മുതൽ വൈകീട്ട് 9 മണി വരെ  മേള ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും. ജനുവരി 3 ന് അവസാനിക്കുന്ന മേളയിൽ മൂവായിരത്തോളം പച്ചക്കറി വിത്ത് പാക്കറ്റുകൾ സൗജന്യമായി പൊതുജനങ്ങൾക്കും കർഷകർക്കും വിതരണം ചെയ്യും. മേളയുടെ ഭാഗമായി മണ്ണുത്തിയിലുള്ള പ്രദർശനത്തോട്ടം കാണുന്നതോടൊപ്പം വിത്തുകൾ, നടീൽ വസ്തുക്കൾ, അലങ്കാര ചെടികൾ, മൂല്യ വർധിത ഉല്പന്നങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ വാങ്ങുന്നതിനുള്ള സൗകര്യവും ഉണ്ട്.

കൂടാതെ, പച്ചക്കറി കൃഷി പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടി വേലൂർ, പുത്തൂർ, കൊടകര പഞ്ചായത്തുകളിലെ കർഷക കൂട്ടായ്മക്കുള്ള വിത്ത് വിതരണം അതാത് പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റുമാർക്ക് നൽകികൊണ്ട് തുടക്കം കുറിച്ചു. മലപ്പുറം ജില്ലയിലെ കീഴാറ്റൂർ പഞ്ചായത്തിലെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്കുള്ള വിത്ത് വിതരണവും ഇതോടൊപ്പം നടത്തി. വൈസ് ചാൻസിലർ ഡോ. ആർ. ചന്ദ്രബാബു കർഷകരെ അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്തു. ഡോ. ശ്രീവത്സൻ ജെ മേനോൻ, ഡോ. ജയശ്രീ കൃഷ്ണൻകുട്ടി എന്നിവർ സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്നു.

Minister K Rajan wants Kerala to be self-sufficient in vegetables. He was speaking at the inauguration of the Knowledge Extension Marketing Fair organized by the Kerala Agricultural University at Mannuthi to promote self-sufficiency in vegetable cultivation and home gardening.

The Minister inaugurated the fair by handing over vegetable seeds to Thrissur Corporation Mayor MK Varghese. The mayor, who presided over the event, said Mannuthi should be turned into a garden city. The fair will be held from 10 am to 9 pm. About 3,000 vegetable seed packets will be distributed free of cost to the public and farmers at the fair, which ends on January 3.

As part of the fair, there will be an exhibition garden in the soil and a facility to purchase seeds, planting materials, ornamental plants and value-added products. In addition, the distribution of seeds to the farming community in Vellore, Puthur and Kodakara panchayats to promote vegetable cultivation was initiated by handing over to the respective panchayat presidents.

Seeds were also distributed to students of Keezhatoor panchayath in Malappuram district. Vice Chancellor Dr. R. Chandrababu addressed the farmers. Dr. Shrivatsan J Menon, Dr. Jayasree Krishnankutty was also present.
