കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പിൻറെ വിവിധ മോഡലുകളുടെ പ്രവചനങ്ങളുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ തയ്യാറാക്കിയ ആദ്യഘട്ട ദീർഘകാല പ്രവചനം സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് ഇന്ത്യയിൽ ജൂൺ മുതൽ സെപ്റ്റംബർ വരെയുള്ള ശരാശരി മഴ ദീർഘകാല ശരാശരിയുടെ 98 ശതമാനം ആയിരിക്കും എന്നാണ്. സാധാരണ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ദീർഘകാല ശരാശരി മൺസൂൺ മഴ 88 സെൻറീമീറ്റർ ആണ്.
