ഗോമൂത്രത്തിന്റെ സവിശേഷതകളെകുറിച്ച് ചരക സംഹിതയിലും ശുശ്രുതസംഹിതയിലും വിശദമായി പരാമര്ശിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. എന്നാല് ആധുനിക ശാസ്ത്രം അതിനെ സംശയദൃഷ്ടിയോടെയാണ് വീക്ഷിച്ചുവരുന്നത്. ഈ വിഷയം വളരെ പുച്ഛത്തോടെ കാണുന്നവരും കുറവല്ല.എന്നാല് ഹിന്ദു സമൂഹത്തില്, പ്രത്യേകിച്ചും വിശ്വാസികള്ക്ക്, ഗോമൂത്രം അതിദിവ്യമായ ഒരു മരുന്നാണ്. പൂജയ്ക്കും ഹോമത്തിനുമൊക്കെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ഒരു കൂട്ടുമാണ് ഗോമൂത്രം. ആയുര്വ്വേദം ഉള്പ്പെടെയുള്ള പരമ്പരാഗത വൈദ്യങ്ങളിലും ഗോമൂത്രത്തിന് മുന്തിയ സ്ഥാനമാണുള്ളത്.

ഈ രംഗത്ത് ആധുനിക ശാസ്ത്രം ചെറിയ തോതിലെങ്കിലും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാന് തുടങ്ങിയത് 2002 ല് ലഖ്നൗ കേന്ദ്രമായുള്ള സെന്ട്രല് ഇന്സ്റ്റിട്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് മെഡിക്കല്& അരോമാറ്റിക് പ്ലാന്റ്സിലെ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞര് ഗോമൂത്രത്തില് നിന്നും മികച്ചൊരു ഉത്പ്പന്നം വേര്തിരിച്ച് യുഎസ് പേറ്റന്റ് നേടിയതോടെയാണ്. ( US patent No.6410059) ഈ ഉത്പ്പന്നത്തിന്റെ ഉപയോഗം കൊണ്ട് ആന്റി ബാക്ടീരിയല്,ആന്റി ഫംഗല്,ആന്റി കാന്സര് ഏജന്റുകളുടെ പ്രവര്ത്തന മികവ് പതിന്മടങ്ങ് വര്ദ്ധിക്കുമെന്നതായിരുന്നു കണ്ടെത്തല്. അതായത് ഒരു രോഗിക്ക് 50 മി.ഗ്രാം മരുന്ന് നല്കേണ്ടിടത്ത് ഇതിന്റെ പത്തിലൊന്നു മരുന്നു മതിയാകും ഗോമൂത്ര എക്സ്ട്രാക്ട് കൂടി ഉപയോഗിച്ചാല്. ഇത് മെഡിക്കല് ഭീമന്മാര് അംഗീകരിക്കാന് മടിക്കുന്ന കാര്യമാണ്. വ്യാപാരം പത്തിലൊന്നായി കുറയും എന്നതുതന്നെ കാരണം. എന്നാല് ക്രമേണ ഇതംഗീകരിക്കേണ്ടി വരും എന്ന് കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. അപ്പോള് മരുന്നു രംഗത്തെ വന്ഭീമന്മാര് തന്നെ ഭാരതത്തിലെ നാടന് പശുക്കളെ വളര്ത്തുന്ന വമ്പന് കേന്ദ്രങ്ങള് ആരംഭിക്കാനുള്ള സാധ്യതയും തള്ളിക്കളയാന് കഴിയില്ല. ഇപ്പോള് ഗോശാലകള് പലയിടത്തും ഒരു ബാധ്യതയാണെങ്കിലും അത് വിലയേറിയ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളായി മാറില്ലെന്നു പറയാന് കഴിയില്ല.

ഗോമൂത്രം

കയ്പേറിയ,കഠിനമായ, ചൂടുള്ള, വേഗം ദഹിക്കുന്ന വസ്തുവാണ് ഗോമൂത്രം. വിശപ്പുണ്ടാക്കുന്നതും ശാന്തത നല്കുന്നതും പേശീമുറുക്കം കുറയ്ക്കുന്നതുമാണിത്. ശുശ്രുത സംഹിതയില് പറയുന്നത് ഇത് ബുദ്ധി വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതും കുടല്രോഗ സംഹാരിയുമാണെന്നാണ്. ചരകസംഹിത പറയുന്നത് കുടല്രോഗത്തിന് പുറമെ ത്വക്ക് രോഗങ്ങള്ക്കും ശ്വാസരോഗങ്ങള്ക്കും രക്തരോഗങ്ങള്ക്കും മികച്ചതാണ് എന്നാണ്. രോഗത്തിന് മാത്രമല്ല രോഗപ്രതിരോധത്തിനും ഗോമൂത്രം സഹായിക്കുമെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. നിത്യവും രാവിലെ ഗോമൂത്രം കുടിക്കുന്നത് ശീലമാക്കിയ അനേകം പേരെ ഇന്ത്യയില് നമുക്ക് കാണാന് കഴിയും

ആയുര്വ്വേദം പറയുന്നത് ഗോമൂത്രം വേദനസംഹാരിയും പ്രമേഹപ്രതിരോധിയും രോഗാണുനാശിനിയും കരള്സംരക്ഷകയും ക്യാന്സര് പ്രതിരോധിയും രോഗപ്രതിരോധശേഷി നല്കുന്നതുമാണെന്നാണ്. ഗോമൂത്രം നാലായി മടക്കിയെടുത്ത കോട്ടണ് തുണി ഉപയോഗിച്ച് അരിച്ചശേഷം മാത്രമെ ഉപയോഗിക്കാവൂ എന്നും ആയുര്വ്വേദം പറയുന്നു. 10 മില്ലി വീതം നിത്യവും 2 നേരം കുടിക്കുന്നത് രോഗപ്രതിരോധശേഷി വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കും. ഒപ്പം ചൂടുവെള്ളം ചേര്ക്കേണ്ടതാണ്. മൂത്ര സംബ്ബന്ധിയായ രോഗങ്ങള്ക്കും കുഷ്ടം ഉല്പ്പെടെയുളള ത്വക്ക് രോഗങ്ങള്ക്കും ചുമ, പൈല്സ്,വിളര്ച്ച,മഞ്ഞപ്പിത്തം, വായ്പുണ്ണ്,വയര്രോഗം,ആസ്ത്മ ഉള്പ്പെടെയുളള ശ്വാസകോസരോഗങ്ങള് എന്നിവയ്ക്കും മികച്ചതാണ് ഗോമൂത്രം. ചെവിവേദനയുള്ളവര്ക്ക് 3-4 തുള്ളി ചെവിയില് ഒഴിച്ചാല് വേദന മാറിക്കിട്ടും.

1. മെഡോഹര് അര്ക്ക - ചന്ദ്രപ്രഭവടി ചേര്ത്ത് കഴിച്ചാല് അമിതവണ്ണം കുറയും. വായുകോപം,കരള്രോഗം,ത്വക് രോഗം,വിയര്പ്പുനാറ്റം,വിശപ്പില്ലായ്മ എന്നിവയ്ക്കും ഉത്തമം. രാവിലെയും വൈകിട്ടും 20-30 മില്ലി ഭക്ഷണത്തിന് മുന്പായി വെളളമോ തേനോ ചേര്ത്ത് കഴിക്കാം.
2. കാമധേനു ഗോമൂത്ര അര്ക്ക(US patent No.6410059) - മൂത്ര സംബ്ബന്ധിയായ രോഗങ്ങല്,മൂത്രക്കല്ല്,ഗാള്സ്റ്റോണ്,ത്വക്ക് രോഗം,വിളര്ച്ച,ദഹനക്കേട് എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് ഉത്തമം. 5-10 മില്ലി എസന്സ് 5-10 മില്ലി വെളളം/ 5 മില്ലി തേന് ചേര്ത്ത് 2 നേരം കഴിക്കാം.

4. ഗോമൂത്രാസവ- വിളര്ച്ച,ജലദോഷം, ആസ്തമ, ചുമ,വിരശല്യം,മഞ്ഞപ്പിത്തം,വാതം, മൂത്രാശയരോഗം എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് 10 മില്ലി വീതം 2 നേരം ആഹാരശേഷം കഴിക്കാം.
5. ബിബിത കവലേഹ - ചുമയ്ക്ക് ഉത്തമം -ദിവസവും 10 ഗ്രാം വീതം 2 നേരം ചൂടുവെള്ളത്തില് കഴിക്കാം
6. കാമധേനു സ്വിത്രനാശക് വടി - വിവധ ത്വക് രോഗങ്ങള്ക്ക് - രാവിലെയും വൈകിട്ടും 2 ഗുളിക വീതം നല്കാം.കുട്ടികള്ക്കാണെങ്കില് ഓരോ ഗുളിക മതിയാകും
7. കാമധേനു സ്വിതനാശക് ലേപ- ത്വക് രോഗത്തിന്. ലേപനം ഗോമൂത്രത്തില് ചാലിച്ച് 2 നേരം പുരട്ടുക. ലൂക്കോഡേര്മ രോഗികള് ലേപനം പുരട്ടിയ ശേഷം രാവിലെ 6-7 അല്ലെങ്കില് വൈകിട്ട് 4-5 മണിക്ക് 15-20 മിനിട്ട് സൂര്യപ്രകാശം ഏല്ക്കണം
8. കാമധേനു ഹരസെ ചൂര്ണ്ണ- മലബന്ധം, വാതം,വായുകോപം,വിശപ്പില്ലായ്മ,പൈല്സ്,മഞ്ഞപ്പിത്തം എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് രാവിലെയും വൈകിട്ടും ഭക്ഷണത്തിനുമുന്പ് 4-6 ഗ്രാം വീതം വെളളത്തില് ചേര്ത്ത് കഴിക്കാം.
9. കാമധേനു നാരി സഞ്ജീവനി- കൃത്യമല്ലാത്ത ആര്ത്തവം, അധിക രക്തസ്രാവം,വെളളപോക്ക് എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് ഉത്തമം
10. കാമധേനു കേശിനികാര് - മുടി കൊഴിച്ചില്,അകാലനര,താരന് എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് 10 മില്ലി ദിവസവും 10-20 മിനിട്ട് തലയോട്ടിയില് തേച്ചു പിടിപ്പിക്കുക. എന്നിട്ട് ചെറുചൂടുവെള്ളത്തില് കഴുകി കളയുക
11. കാമധേനു പ്രമേഹരി - ക്ഷീണമകറ്റാനും ആരോഗ്യത്തിനും
12. കാമധേനു ബാല്പാല് രസ- ഓര്മ്മശക്തി വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കാനും കുട്ടികളില് പ്രതിരോധശേഷി കൂട്ടാനും കഫദോഷങ്ങള്ക്കും പൊതുആരോഗ്യത്തിനും പശുവിന്പാലോ ചൂടുവെള്ളമോ ചേര്ത്ത് ഉപയോഗിക്കാം.

ഗോമൂത്രം - ഗൃഹവൈദ്യം

• മൂലക്കുരു ഉള്ളവര് ഗോമൂത്രം മൂലക്കുരുവില് തടവുകയോ ഗോമൂത്രത്തില് ടബ് ബാത്ത് ചെയ്യുകയോ എനിമ എടുക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നത് നല്ലതാണ്
• തടി കുറയ്ക്കാന് 10 മി.ലി ഗോമൂത്രം വെള്ളത്തിലോ 50 ഗ്രാം തേനിലോ നിത്യവും കഴിക്കുക
• ഗോമൂത്രം നിത്യവും കഴിച്ചാല് കൊളസ്ട്രോള് കുറയും
• 10-20 മി.ലി. ഗോമൂത്രം 4-6 ഗ്രാം നാഡിഹിംഗ പൗഡറിനൊപ്പം കഴിച്ചാല് വിരശല്യം ഇല്ലാതാകും
• നിത്യവും ഗോമൂത്രം കുടിച്ചാല് മലബന്ധം ഒഴിവാകും
• ഗോമൂത്രത്തില് മാസ്സേജ് ചെയ്താല് ത്വക് രോഗങ്ങള് മാറും
• 20 മില്ലി ഗോമൂത്രം 4 ഗ്രാം യവക്ഷര് ചേര്ത്ത് 3 മാസം കഴിച്ചാല് വയറുവീക്കം മാറും
• ദിവസവും 2 നേരം 2-4 തുള്ളി ഗോമൂത്രം മൂക്കിലൊഴിച്ചാല് ജലദോഷം ഒഴിവാകും
• ഗോമൂത്രം ചെറുചൂടില് തേച്ചുപിടിപ്പിക്കുകയോ തുണിമുക്കി ആവികൊള്ളുകയോ ചെയ്താല് പേശീവീക്കത്തിന് ശമനം കിട്ടും
• 20 മില്ലി ഗോമൂത്രം ദിവസം 2 നേരം വീതം 21 ദിവസം കഴിച്ചാല് മഞ്ഞപ്പിത്തം മാറും.

മേല്പറഞ്ഞ രീതികളെല്ലാം മികച്ചനിലയില് ശാസ്ത്രീയമായി എടുത്ത നാടന് പശുക്കളുടെ ഗോമൂത്രം ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്. ചികിത്സ ഒരു ആയുര്വ്വേദ ഡോക്ടറുടെ നിര്ദ്ദേശങ്ങള് അനുസരിച്ചാവുകയും വേണം.

US Patent No.6410059 acquired by scientist at the Central Institute of Medical and Aromatic Plants,Lucknow,Uttar Pradesh.Might deal with a wonder substances  isolated from cow urine.It might enhance the activity of several antibacterial and antifungal agents,and atleast one anticancer drug by two to 80 times even a10-fold increase in activity.It means that a patient who would normally required five gram (5000mg of a drug  over five days,might get well in just 500mg when it was administer in the cow urine extract.The pharmaceutical giants will themselves invest in cows. For centuries Ayurvedic practitioners have been using cow urine for treatment of gastric disorders,dermatological disorders,respiratory disorders, circulatory disorders(wound and injuries),etc.Numerous preparations based on panchagavya in general and cow urine in particular are presently available and being recommended by practicing physicians(Ayurvedic and some allopathic,too).Most of these medicinal formulations are developed based on the information given in traditional texts.Although approved by Food and Drug Administration of the states, the products still lack in convincing experimental and scientific database to support their utility.This surely has an unfortunate but possible fear of marketing the preparations for ulterior economic motives.Faith and belief of society may beat times misused which would oneday notonly defame the practitioners butalso ruin the age old practice. Use of cow urine received a renwed and remarkable attention with the grant of two US patents to the pharmaceutical formulations containing cow urine.

Renowned central and state level Govt.and private institutions became instrumental in conducting focused research on cow urine.CDRL,CSIR,NEERI,IITs along with Go Vigyan Anusandhan Kendras,Gorakshan Sabhas,Gaushalas,Ayurvedic and Pharmacy colleges started working in this area of research-sometimes scattered,sometimes collaboratively.During the same period the idea of present research work sprouted. This most useful animal origin substance‘cowurine’i.e.gomutra is claimed to possess intrinsic property of general health improvement.It was an interesting observation that may people,rural as well urban,consume morning fresh cowurine evenwhen they are absolutely well and healthy.The practice can’t be ignored as an act of blind faith and superstition.Infact,a survey about their health record could throw light on the rationale of habit of this daily dose of cow-urine.

At the same juncture,it is notable that the urine of pure Indian breed of cow is recommended for consumption while that of other or hybrid breeds is not.Although no direct reasoning is available in the texts and literature for this discrimination pertaining to cowurine,an American doctor’s book‘Devil in the milk’authored by a longtime medical practitioner in America Dr.Keith Wood ford gives a detailed account of how milk of European breeds of cow is hazardous for child health while the milk of Indian and Brazilian breed is health promoting for the children.A direct analogy between cow-milk and cow-urine of these different breeds may not be justified,yet a remote basis which needs to be further strengthened by experimental evidences is atleast available to support the belief than hybrid cow’s urine is not medicinally as useful as pure Indian breed’s is said to be.

2] Kamdhenu Gomutra Arka (US Patent no.6,410,059 Dated:-25/06/2002) Beneficial in the following:- 1)Scanty micturition (urinary disorders) 2)Urine stone,gall stones 3)Obesity 4)Diseases of excretory system 5)Skin diseases 6)Anaemia 7)Indigestion Dose:–5-10ml essence with 5-10ml water or 5ml honey 2 times. Anupan:-Water or warm water or as prescribed by the physician. Precautions:- 1) Gomutra of a healthy Indian cow should be taken. 2) Care should be taken that the gomutra is stored at a stable& specific temperature. 3) The dose varies according to the season(summer,monsoon,winter). 4) While administering it to the patient,if the patient is of pitta constitution, utmost care should be taken or to be given as advised by the physician. 5) Arka should be administered according to physician’s advice to small children& pregnant women.

3] Kamdhenu Haldi Ghanavati -Beneficial in the following:- 1)Bronchial asthma. 2)Cough&Cold. 3)Skin diseases. 4)Hypertension. 5)Diabetes. 6)Arthritis. 7)Rheumatoid Arthritis 8)Cancer -Dose:-1-2 tabs.2 times a day.After meals or as prescribed by physician. Anupan:-Water Warning:-Contra indicated in pregnant women,children&weak persons.

5] Bibhitakavaleha- Beneficial in the following:- 1)Shwas 2)Cough Dose:–10g (1teaspoon)twice a day or as prescribed by the physician. Anupan:–Warm water/Gomutra Aasav after meals or as prescribed by the physician.

Use:-For external use the paste should be mixed with gomutra and the paste is rubbed on the affected area 2 times a day.After application in Leucoderma,one should expose oneself to the sunlight for15-20 min in the morning from 6-7or in the evening from4-5.

8] Kamdhenu Harade Churna--Beneficial in the following:- 1.Constipation. 2.Anorexia. 3.Flatulence. 4.Lossofappetite. 5.Piles. 6.Analdisorders. 7.It digests Aam and increases Agni. 8.Arthritis&RheumatoidArthritis. 9.Jaundice.
